Why Renovate With Smart Windows?

New Life for Old Buildings

Glass curtainwalls deliver a modern aesthetic and high-tech performance that can transform curb appeal and elevate the experience of occupants with uninterrupted views and daylight.

Meet Mandatory Retrofit Requirements

Smart windows help owners meet Building Performance Standards (BPS), which local governments across the US are increasingly adopting to reduce building energy use and carbon emissions.

Reduced Upfront Cost

Building owners in the United States, including tax-exempt entities, are eligible to receive a 30-50% tax credit or direct rebate on smart windows with the Investment Tax Credit (ITC).

FAQs

How much energy do smart windows save?

This varies based on climate zone, size of building, amount of glass, and other project-specific variables. Generally, smart class can reduce energy loads between 5-15% and reduce peak energy loads up to 26%.

Can you match SageGlass with other glass in my building?

SageGlass is frequently used on projects along with spandrel or even other vision glass from different manufacturers. In fact, it's rare that a building employs 100% SageGlass for both vision and spandrel. We work collaboratively with architects and owners to identify the best SageGlass solution and complementary static glazing, to meet both performance targets and design vision.

What types of buildings are ideal for smart windows?

Smart windows have been installed on commercial buildings across a wide variety of industries.  Smart windows can be used in airports, offices, hotels and other hospitality venues, hospitals, schools and university buildings, cultural institutions and much more.  Dynamic glass is also ideal for skylight applications. Visit our case studies to learn more.

Why should I consider electrochromic glass instead of conventional glass or solar control solutions?

Smart windows maximize daylight, proivde unobstructed views, and increase energy efficiency, lowering a building's overall operational carbon footprint.  Dynamic glass outperforms conventional solutions at providing optimal solar and glare control because conventional solutions are static and cannot adapt to changes in sunlight levels.  Dynamic glass is the ideal facade solution for designing spaces that both maximize the occupant experience and wellness, as well as prioritize sustainability.

Don’t Just Take Our Word For It
On the campus of Middle Tennessee State University, the iconic Murphy Center underwent a complete façade renovation in 2022. The installation of 33,000 sq. ft. of smart windows transformed the “Glass House” while maintaining the building’s original design intent.
