INPI, Courbevoie (France)
The new headquarters for the INPI (the French National Institute of Industrial Property) is an energy-positive building with 550 employees. The latest construction technology was used to provide the best working environment: visual and thermal comfort, air quality, sound levels, etc.
However, the automatic external blinds that were installed were noisy and quickly broke down, making the working areas uncomfortable. As the home of innovation, INPI sought a sustainable and innovative solution in keeping with its own character.
To overcome this challenge, INPI put its trust in unique SageGlass® technology from Saint-Gobain – a dynamic glass protected by over 500 patents. This electronically variable tinted glass discreetly darkens and lightens in response to outside light, allowing natural light and solar heat to be adjusted and eliminating glare. This effective and environmentally friendly alternative to louvered shutters, venetian blinds and other rolling shutters guarantees constant comfort for building occupants and does not require any special maintenance.
Thanks to SageGlass®, employees at INPI now enjoy optimum working conditions: unnoticed to the building's occupants, the windows become tinted, providing maximum comfort all year round at every moment of the day. The meeting rooms can be manually darkened to ensure the best possible conditions for a presentation.
Finally, SageGlass® reduces energy consumption – a real advantage for INPI's energy-positive building!

We were impressed by this extremely eco-friendly solution that addresses our needs and our CSR commitments, but also by the fact that it is protected by an array of patents. It meant that we could acquire this product via an appropriate innovative purchases procedure. It's proof that patents help to conquer markets thanks to the exclusivity they provide.
