The Challenge

Thermoplan, a Swiss company specializing in the development and production of fully automatic coffee machines for professional use, is renowned for its unwavering commitment to quality. This dedication is not only evident in their products but also in their work culture and the design of their workspaces. With growing demand for their coffee machines, Thermoplan is expanding its facilities to increase capacity. The new building, a symbol of success, is designed to reflect the company's core values: innovation and openness to cutting-edge technology. Sustainability will also be a key focus, ensuring that the building aligns with modern environmental standards while embodying Thermoplan’s vision for the future. This new space will further solidify the company’s reputation for excellence and forward-thinking solutions.

The Solution

To achieve this vision, Thermoplan has designed and constructed a unique, state-of-the-art building, dubbed “unique”, featuring six additional production areas, logistics facilities, and office spaces. The entire structure was planned digitally, enabling smarter design, more efficient construction, and sustainable operation. A key element of this innovative approach is the installation of SageGlass electrochromic glass. This smart window solution not only reduces the building’s energy consumption by dynamically adapting to sunlight, but also preserves the unobstructed views of the lake and surrounding mountains. By integrating cutting-edge technologies like SageGlass, Thermoplan demonstrates its commitment to sustainability, efficiency, and creating a workspace that blends modernity with environmental responsibility.

The Benefits

In addition to reducing energy requirements and operating costs, SageGlass improves the comfort of people in the building by controlling glare and interior temperatures, without the need for blinds or shades. Employees can enjoy views of the outdoors and natural light. By integrating SageGlass, Thermoplan has not only enhanced the building's sustainability profile, but also created an aesthetically pleasing, high-tech workspace that embodies its commitment to cutting-edge solutions and environmental responsibility.
