The Swedish leader in solid wood construction, GBJ Bygg has experienced significant growth, forcing them to expand their facilities. Known as Thelestads Herrgard, the building dates back to the 1840s and required an expansion and a meticulous modernization of the existing spaces to support the company’s continued development.
- The choice of materials was of paramount importance. The goal was to create a timeless, contemporary aesthetic while allowing the building to blend harmoniously into its natural surroundings and minimize its environmental impact.
- The expansion, which added 570 m² including two new office spaces and three meeting rooms, utilized a solid wood structure and incorporated a geothermal heat pump for efficient energy management.
- The installation of SageGlass smart windows enabled the direct visual connection with the outdoors, while offering intelligent control of lighting and heat inside the building.
