QScale Q01 Campus
QScale is dedicated to developing environmentally responsible computing centers. Their new Q01 space, strategically located in the Quebec City area, combines innovative building design with best-in-class energy efficiency. Recently awarded “North American Data Center Project of the Year” at the DatacenterDynamics (DCD) Global Awards, high-density colocation facility is designed specifically to support high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI).
QScale partnered with Menkes, Shooner, Dagenais Letourneaux Architectes to design a best-in-class computing center with minimal environmental impact. The facility boasts numerous innovative technologies to advance sustainable goals:
- The facility is powered by 100% clean and renewable energy and the cold climate allows for free cooling up to 80% of the year.
- The site employs a unique waste-heat energy recovery and reuse system with a nearby agricultural site to support a circular economy.
- In office and common spaces, floor-to-ceiling electrochromic windows afford occupants views while reducing heat gain and energy loads, helping the building to improve its energy performance.
“We were also able to demonstrate to our customer that SageGlass provided sufficient visual privacy during nighttime, which was a priority for them,” continues Fielding.
In August 2024, QScale received the prestigious “Sustainability Initiative of the Year” award from the Business Intelligence Group (BIG) for its commitment to environmental responsibility at the Q01 campus.
