The Challenge

Bühler AG is a global technology company based in Uzwil, St. Gallen, Switzerland. The company provides leading process solutions for the production of food — e.g., flour, pasta, chocolate, waffles — and the processing and coating of products with technical materials. Its plan was to build a new innovation campus that reflect its guiding principle: “Innovations for a better world.” Bühler wanted employees to be able to live by this motto in their daily work.

The Solution

Bühler opted for electrochromic glass by SageGlass for the glass façade. The intelligent glass reflects the corporate strategy of sustainable growth, efficiency, and innovation. SageGlass doesn’t just protect against glare and heat — it also provides huge savings on heating and air-conditioning costs.

The Benefits

Constant daylight helps employees feel happier, more relaxed, and more productive. When glare from the sun is under control, people can also concentrate better and work more efficiently. Employees also feel more comfortable overall because the building maintains a pleasant room temperature. The building also scores highly in terms of sustainability. SageGlass has helped the building attain LEED Gold certification for sustainability.
