The Challenge

Boehringer Ingelheim is one of the most research-driven pharmaceutical companies in Austria. In Vienna, Boehringer Ingelheim supports research into fundamental molecular biology at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP). The new state-of-the-art building at the Vienna BioCenter will allow the IMP to join the world’s leading research institutes in shaping molecular biology for decades to come. ATP architects engineers prioritized communication, flexibility, and sustainability when planning the new building. Functionality and design needed to be carefully combined in order to meet the requirements of a modern research company.

The Solution

Boehringer Ingelheim chose SageGlass to fulfill both its functional and aesthetic requirements. The dynamic sun protection solution can be controlled automatically and manually, allowing just the right amount of daylight into the building at all times. By choosing SageGlass, the research institute not only met its design requirements, but also created comfortable working conditions for its researchers.

The Benefits

Numerous studies show that access to natural light and a view of the surroundings improves performance and well-being. These criteria are particularly important for scientists, as they require a comfortable, well-lit environment that is free from heat or glare issues in order to maintain the high level of concentration required for their work. SageGlass also offers optimal performance from a hygiene perspective, as it is much less susceptible to dirt than internal sun protection elements like blinds and shades. Researchers at Boehringer Ingelheim enjoy all of the benefits of SageGlass in a clean, comfortable, and well-lit work environment.
