THE CHALLENGE

The building on the west ring of the Baloise Bank SoBa AG in Solothurn was in need of renovation. The slanting roof in particular presented a major challenge: the previously installed shading system often stopped working due to wind and snow, resulting in frequent maintenance work and high operating costs. For this reason, the building owner needed a low-maintenance building envelope .

THE SOLUTION

The smart glass by SageGlass is ideal for challenging applications such as slanting roofs, as the electrochromic glass functions on the exterior without any mechanical shading elements. SageGlass automatically tints depending on the position of the sun, which means it provides optimal solar and heat protection in all types of weather. It is also easy to look after and has low maintenance costs. Maintenance is a matter of simply cleaning the glass, which is no different than standard double-glazed glass.
