SageGlass® Receives Certificate of Sustainability Excellence from Gulf Organization for Research and Development (GORD)

Leading MENA Sustainability Organization Certifies SageGlass under the Gulf Green Mark-Environmental Product Declaration

SageGlass®, the pioneer of the world’s smartest electrochromic glass, received a Certificate of Sustainability Excellence at the Sustainability Summit 2017, held November 26-27 in Doha, Qatar. With this Certificate, SageGlass – a product of Saint-Gobain – is now certified under the Gulf Green Mark-Environmental Product Declaration (GGM-EPD), an initiative of the Qatar-based Gulf Organization for Research and Development (GORD).

GORD is a non-profit governmental organization, established at Qatar Science and Technology Park in 2009. Led by a team of highly skilled, multi-disciplinary experts, GORD is a leader in supporting the sustainable development of the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa). GORD developed the Gulf Green Mark certification – the GCC’s first environmental product declaration initiative – to promote the construction industry products and materials that cause less stress on the environment. The certification process follows stringent measures and aims to quantify and verify data that can be used in the assessment of the environmental performance of buildings and their component materials.

SageGlass customers can use this certification to claim credit points with GSAS Trust, GORD’s Center of Excellence responsible for bestowing GSAS accreditation for the design, construction and/or operation of green buildings and infrastructure in the MENA region.

The annual Sustainability Summit, where SageGlass representatives received the Certificate of Sustainability Excellence, is the leading event of its kind in the MENA region. Presented annually by GORD, the Sustainability Summit brings together practitioners, experts, regulators and researchers to discuss sustainability and climate change, including the impact of the built environment.

SageGlass, distributed in the Middle East by Vetrotech Saint-Gobain International, dynamically controls sunlight to optimize daylight, outdoor views and comfort throughout the day, while simultaneously preventing glare, fading and overheating without the need for blinds or shades. By blocking sunlight, SageGlass dynamic glass dramatically reduces energy demand and the need for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).

“We are proud to collaborate with GORD, an organization committed to meeting the present needs of the building industry without compromising the rights of future generations,” said Alain Garnier, Manager Sales and Business Development SageGlass Middle East.

SageGlass also received the prestigious Gaia Award for the most innovative green construction product at The Big 5 International Building & Construction Show in 2016 in Dubai.
